Department/Group Overview:
This role supports the Nat Geo Media organization, specifically marketing efforts. The department is charged with attracting and engaging consumers, and ultimately converting them to paying customers and loyalists. This role is part of the Nat Geo Media Marketing Operations team, which encompasses creative, digital marketing execution, audience segmentation, data platforms, and analytics.
Job Summary:
This role is part of National Geographic’s Consumer Data Platforms & Analytics team which is responsible for managing the platforms and tools that enable our consumer marketing activation strategies, business insights, and advanced analytics for Nat Geo’s various media properties. This Manager partners with marketing, third-party vendors, and technology stakeholders to understand their business goals and unique needs. He/she will translate stakeholder requirements into analytic insights, execute and collaborate with vendor partners on statistical modeling, database management, and measure progress toward goals. The Manager will work independently, manage projects, and interact as a point of contact with internal and vendor partners, specifically to plan and deliver new features and platform enhancements.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

Statistical Modeling & Analysis: participate in evolution of Nat Geo’s data models in collaboration with analytics teammates, vendors, and cross-functional teams. Identify patterns, uncover opportunities, and create common understanding of how our marketing and content drives customer conversion and engagement.

Performance Reporting: Work with key stakeholders to deliver marketing analytics, model performance, and automated KPI/metrics reporting using data both within and outside of the NG data platforms to inform marketing performance. Support stakeholders to understand how consumers are interacting with the Nat Geo media products and what lenses are useful in understanding variance in subscriber behavior.

Data Platform Management: Support and coordinate special projects, and the overall enhancement of the data platforms with the development of use cases, business requirements, functional specifications, and process flows.
Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:
Basic Qualifications:

Requires min. 2-4 years of experience in Data Analytics or a similar role; hands-on experience driving measurable results (monetization, engagement) with digital products across various business models. Preference for concentration in marketing organizations.

Requires min. 2-4 years of related work experience with relational database systems including PostgreSQL, MySQL

Intermediate level of expertise in SQL and Python

Able to properly interpret stakeholder needs and translate those needs into complete and accurate written requirements, use cases, and testing/measurement plans.

Able to clearly communicate and articulate project updates and requirements to marketing stakeholders as well as vendor technical resources.

Strong problem-solving skills to move a project toward successful completion while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications

Intermediate level of experience lakes, data warehouses and application databases

Excellent analytical skills, intermediate level of statistical knowledge

Strong communication skills, for both technical and non-technical audiences

Familiarity with data platforms and applications such as Jupyter, Snowflake, Github

Intermediate to advanced level of expertise in one or more programming languages such as Python, SQL, Java

Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud-based platforms

Familiarity with data exploration and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Domo
Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Business or Quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering). Master’s degree preferred.
